Learning From The Choices You Make

So today I had an epiphany. Everyone knows that life is all about the choices you make. Where you are today is a result of the choices you made yesterday or last week or five years ago. Can you be happy, though, with where you are today and still miss what might’ve been if you’d made different choices? Sometimes I find myself regretting a choice I’ve made that put me on a different path from the one I fiercely wanted to go down. I love my life today and the people in it, but every now and then, my heart hurts and longs for places and people I left behind years ago.
I guess part of appreciating what you have now is dependent on what you had before. Learning from the heartaches and bad choices of the past and moving forward while trying your level best not to repeat those mistakes in your present or future. Looking back on my life, I am a lucky woman to have met so  many wonderful people and to have loved and been loved by a few. I also learned from the ones that I hated and who hated me, so all in all, I guess it is okay to be happy now and to miss what might’ve been.

Human Blend and Earth Blend by Lori Pescatore

Human Blend

In Human Blend by Lori Pescatore, we meet Laney. Laney is a young woman with a gift to heal. She is also being chased by people who want to hold her captive and experiment on her. All Laney wants is a normal life; a job, friends, and a home. Against her better judgment, Laney ignores her inner voice and begins a relationship with a local guy. She also obtains a volunteer position at the local hospital where she can use her gift to help heal the sick.

Laney knows that her captors are coming for her and that it’s just a matter of time before they find her. She decides that this time she will stay and fight for her right to live normally. That changes, however, when the young man she is in a relationship with begins to exhibit a gift similar to Laney’s. When Laney finds this out, it’s too late to run because ‘they’ have already found her…

Earth Blend

In Earth Blend, we pick up the story of Laney and Austin where Human Blend left off. Laney and Austin try to keep their relationship together as secrets and lies fly around them. Is their budding relationship strong enough to survive the stress of being hunted and being different? Will they have a chance to live normally or will they lose each other and possibly their lives in the struggle to remain free?

I don’t normally read YA novels but these books were AWESOME!! I didn’t feel like I was reading a Young Adult novel. My curiosity was peaked from page one and I was drawn to Laney. She wanted a family and roots so badly! She lived a life that required she lie about almost everything but she tried so hard not to lie. I would definitely suggest that you read these books, whether you are young or old, you will enjoy them from the first page!! Reading these books was a vacation for me. Lori’s writing style is wonderful. She has such a vivid imagination and writes so clearly that it is a pleasure to read her work.

I hope you enjoy reading these two books as much as I did! Come back and let me know what you thought of them. If you’ve already them, what are your thoughts?

Book: Grave Is The Day
Author: Michael Drakich
Publisher: Knight Romance Publishing
Genre: Science Fiction
Rating: Mature
This is a tale of aliens, spaceships, and the human reaction to the strange and unknown. Mr. Drakich has tightly woven fascination, fear, and curiosity into this story. I felt compassion for the aliens who had the misfortune of being detained by the government and at the same time, admired the way individuals were portrayed. From sympathetic and compassionate, to disgustingly and shamefully cruel, you will love some of the characters in this story immediately and love to hate others.

Scarlet Black is an amazingly talented author who writes in the Psychological Thriller, Horror, and Paranormal Romance and Dark Urban Fantasy genres. She has become one of my very favorite authors. Her books are well written with tight plots, lively characters and action and suspense that will keep you guessing until the page.
I have to warn you, though, before you pick up SALEM MOON or any of her other books, you should clear your calendar. Once you start reading, you will not stop until you have read the very last word. Scarlet has a website which you can find here. This site has all the latest information on her release dates and next book. Now, on to the review of SALEM MOON;
This story takes place in Salem, Massachusetts both in the 1600’s during the Salem Witch Trials and also in present day Salem. Gabriel Blackstone is a young man in Salem during the witch trial hysteria. His father is a veterinarian and he has a twin sister, Abigail.
While out hunting, Gabriel watches in dismay as a doe dies right in front of him, not from a gunshot but because its chest suddenly explodes from the inside. In a panic, he runs to get his father who examines the doe and can find no logical cause for the death. Fearing an accusation of witch craft, Mr. Blackstone helps his son to bury the deer and, thinking that they were the only two witnesses, agree never to mention the incident to another person and return home.
However, Gabriel and his father are not the only two people in the woods that day. Two brothers who are the Blackstone’s neighbors also witnessed the episode. Not long after the Blackstone men return home, a group of town officials come to their home and accuse both Gabriel and Abigail of witchcraft. Abigail is accused simply because she is Gabriel’s twin and because the two siblings are extremely beautiful. After a farce of a trial both Gabriel and his sister are found guilty of witch craft.
The story really begins as Gabriel lay dying and a man appears before him claiming to have the power to not only rescue Gabriel but to help him fulfill his destiny. This is a must read for anyone who likes the paranormal with a twist of time travel and romance! I can promise you, you will not be disappointed and once you read one of her books, you will have to read them all.
Happy Reading!

5 out of 5 *****

Elise is a young werewolf who loves life in her pack. She is in love with her best friend Bryan and cannot wait to become his mate. One day, out of the blue, she is summoned before her packs council and told that she will be mated to the neighboring packs Alpha, Kane, in order to create an alliance and expand their territories.  She is heart broken over the loss of the future she had imagined with Bryan but knows she must do as her father asks for the good of her pack.
Kane has just become the new Alpha of his pack and needs a mate. He knows that this is not how Elise pictured her life but hopes to make her happy. After their first mating, he takes her back to his home and pack. Everyone seems to be so excited to meet her and accept her as part of their pack. Elise slowly begins to feel at home in her new pack but trouble is surrounding them on all sides. Someone wants the pack off  their land and will do anything to make it happen.
Could it be Kane’s brother, Ryne, who lost the challenge to become the Alpha male? Or the oil company who wants to drill for oil on Kane’s land?

This book was amazing! It is the longest book I have read in a while but it kept my attention all the way through! I was completely enthralled with the plot and the characters. The plot was tight and the characters were so real that I felt as if I had known them forever. This is the first book I have read by Nicky Charles and I was completely blown away.
I found this book at the Nook store. It is a free download, although I would gladly pay to read Nicky Charles. You can find it here. There is also an author site, which you can visit here. Please be sure to read this book and then rate it on the Nook site and/or drop by the author’s site and let her know how much you enjoyed it!
